James L. Bennett

James Bennett, 81, of Cleveland passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at an area hospital.

James was a retired US Navy Chief Quartermaster.  He was also retired from the US Postal Service.  He was a member of Bowman Hills Seventh-day Adventist Church.  In Florida, James served as treasurer for 17 years at St. Petersburg Seventh- day Adventist Church.   

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sylvia Chastain Bennett; sister, Geneva Hagen.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Bailey Bennett; children, Mylan (Janet) Bennett, Karen (Alan) McManamay all of Smyrna, TN, Sherry LeCroy and Melisa (Bob) Smith, all of Cleveland; grandchildren; Bridgett (Brian) Pruitt, Amy (Chad) Grundy, Laurie Stepp and Bobby Smith; six great grandchildren;sister, Minnie Baker of Collegedale.

The funeral will be held, Thursday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of

Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Herod officiating.  Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
