Shirley Ann Mitchell

September 9, 1937 — February 26, 2006

Shirley Ann Mitchell, age 68, a life long resident of Cleveland, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the family residence after a short battle with cancer. She was a very devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Shirley loved to decorate her home and enjoyed her flower gardening. She was a member of the Springplace Church of God of Prophecy. Shirley was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Charlotte Diane Mitchell and also a daughter, Monica "Lisa" Ledford. Her father, Reverend Kendrick Linville also preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert A. Mitchell of Cleveland; grandchildren: Michael Ledford and wife Amanda of Ringgold, Georgia and Melissa Ledford and her very special friend, Brandon DeBruce of Cleveland; son-in-law, Jeffrey Ledford of Cordova, TN; mother, Cleo Linville of Cleveland; brother and wife, James and Marie Linville of Cleveland; sister and husband, Cosetta and Creed Stephens of Cleveland; a special uncle, Archie Burdine of Salt Lake City, Utah and a special cousin and wife, Donald and Dixie Linville of Sellersburg, Indiana; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend William Coile and Reverend Victor Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service. Trae Calfee, Garner Gold, Jamie Hamilton, Roger Holt, Michael Scoggins and Alex Watson will serve as pallbearers. Victor Calfee, Willis Holt, Kenneth Carroll, Ronald Morrison, Ronald Wright, Amos Watson and the nurses from the fifth floor of Bradley Memorial Hospital will serve as honorary pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Attention: Kristen Eiselstein, 850 Fortwood Street, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37403.
