Leonard Verner

Leonard Verner, age 89, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Verner was the son of the late Charlie and Laura Givens Verner and was also preceded in death by his wife, Eva Verner. Survivors include his two daughters: Shirley Foster and Peggy Morrow both of Cleveland; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Roger Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the release of a flock of white doves concluding the service. Roger Gilbert, Kevin Gilbert, Billy Verner, Phillip Slaughter, Randy Elliott and Alvin Foster will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
