David Johnson

April 18, 1950 — April 11, 2006

C. David Johnson, age 55, a native Clevelander, died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 while on a business trip in California passing peacefully of natural causes. A United States Army veteran, he served in Vietnam receiving multiple commendations including credits for service above and beyond the call of duty, and then returned home to attend the National School of Business. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Donelson Police Academy. As a former Emergency Operations officer, he was credited with assisting in the design of the 911 Communications Center. He also served many years with the Bradley County Sheriff?s Department both as a field officer and as a member of the Special Operations Unit. During his many years of law enforcement he received numerous awards and commendations. As a member of the Tennessee Defense Force he was charged with the honor of guarding President Ronald Reagan during his visits to Tennessee. He received numerous awards and citations while working in the area of law enforcement. For the past ten years he was honored to be employed by Lou Winters, a life long friend, at Ocoee River Transport. He was preceded in death by Claudia "Little Granny" Gates, Bill and Willie Johnson, and Tom Marr. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, brother and uncle, and is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Marr Johnson of Cleveland; his children and their spouses: Jeff and Dana Johnson, Michelle Roberts, and Jason and Lindsey Johnson, all of Cleveland; one brother, Bo Johnson and his wife Margie of Cleveland; two sisters and their spouses: Ann and Mickey Harris of Cleveland, and Faye and Larry Bates of South Carolina; seven beautiful grandchildren: Drew, Robbie, Dustin, Jesse, Hailey, Heather and Jailyn, all of Cleveland; nieces and nephews: Jeremy Henderson, Joe and Monica Johnson, Derrick and Chris Marr, Courtney and Caitlin Bentley, and Carmen Johnson; and mother-in-law, Arlene Marr of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Tommy Marr, Jr. and Jeff Bentley, brothers-in-law, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with his sons Jeff and Jason serving as pallbearers with nephews Derrick Marr, Chris Marr and Jeremy Henderson, and Gabrial West, Mark Neeley and Gary Coffey.
