Charles DeLay

Charles (Chuck) H. DeLay, Sr., age 75, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in a local hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving for ten years and also was in the Korean Conflict. He was in the furniture business for 35 years and was the owner of Chucks Furniture. Mr. DeLay was the son of the late James Thomas and Esteleene Ledford DeLay and was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Louise DeLay. He is survived by his children and spouses: Gail and Darryal Ray of Alabama, Sheron and Jim Thompson of Cleveland, Donna and Tony Massie of Old Fort and Chuck and Susan DeLay of Columbus, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law: James and Faye DeLay of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Beaty officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Richie Holmes, Mike DeLay, Ronnie DeLay, Ryan Murray, Rex Hamilton and Jason Lawson will serve as pallbearers.
