Donald H. Rogers, 78, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in a local hospital. He attended the Liberty Baptist Church in Tennga, GA. He retired from J & J Carpet of Dalton, GA. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He was a well-known beekeeper most of his life. He enjoyed hunting with his beagles and was a small-scale farmer for many years.
Mr. Rogers was the son of the late Albert B. Rogers and Mary Garrett Rogers and was also preceded in death by two sisters: Mildred Riggs and husband, Fred and Gertrude Myers and husband, Herman.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Katherine Richardson Rogers of Cleveland; two children: Perry Rogers and wife, Janet of Cleveland and Karen Partyka and husband, Joseph of Marietta, GA; two grandchildren: Katie Rogers and Keri Rogers both of Cleveland; one brother, Arnold Rogers and wife, JoAnn of Etowah; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery in Benton with his nephews, Tim Myers, Rick Myers, Glenn Riggs, Robert Sneed, Kipp Richardson and Eric Rogers serving as pallbearers. His great nephew, Jake Rogers will serve as honorary pallbearer. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
