Donald L Sharpe

Donald L. Sharpe, 88, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014. He was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church. He was graduated from Bradley Central High School Class of 1944. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WW II in Germany. He retired as Captain from the Cleveland Fire Department after 27 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Sharpe and Hattie Hargis Sharpe; two brothers, Edward Sharpe and Kenny Sharpe; his first wife of 36 years, Betty Jo Sharpe and his second wife, Louise Sharpe.
Survivors include his special friend, Betty Baumgardner; daughters, Linda Shoemaker, Judy Hilton and husband, Leonard all of Cleveland, Donna Dorsey and husband, Gerald of Lenoir City, TN; step son, Tommy Wilhoit and wife, Nancy of Dalton, GA; grandchildren: Todd Shoemaker and wife, Tina, Brian Shoemaker and wife, Amy, Karen Gilbert and husband, Kris, Cindy Leslie and husband, Scott, and Rick Hilton. Great grandchildren: Jack Shoemaker, Alex Shoemaker, Hailey Leslie, Hunter Leslie, Ryah Gilbert, Bailey Gilbert, Jill Coffman and husband, Chad, Jada Hilton, Clay Shoemaker and Ashley Shoemaker; sister, Carolyn Thomas of Cleveland; also several cousins, nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Reed Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with military honors. Todd Shoemaker, Brian Shoemaker, Kris Gilbert, Rick Hilton, Scott Leslie and Gerald Dorsey will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12-2p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family suggests memorial be made to the North Cleveland Baptist Church Building Fund, 2815 North Ocoee Street, Cleveland, TN 37312.
