Evelyn Jeanette Presswood Lee, 77, passed away Sunday Morning, July 13, 2014. She was the consummate homemaker, as she as husband Robert hosted and entertained many friends in their years in Cleveland, Knoxville, Birmingham, and Cleveland again, respectively. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Evelyn was a 1955 graduate of Bradley Central High School.
She was preceded in death by parents Frank and Gertrude Presswood; sister Lynda Presswood Suggs; sister Barbara Jean Presswood; sister Helen Rose; nephew Chad Presswood; nephew Bill Presswood Jr.
She is survived by Robert, of Cleveland, to whom she was married 59 years; son Rev. Victor Lee (Judy), grandchildren Jessica, Danny, Caryn, Morgan and John Matthew; great-granchildren Taylor, Tatum, Tori, Tricia and Thomas, all of Knoxville; brothers Larry and Bill Presswood; sister Virginia Presswood Davis, nieces and nephews Jana (Waymon) Casteel, Jerry Ellis, Jimmy (Caroline) Ellis, Judy Shamblin, Sheila Wilson; Connie Golden; all of Cleveland; Lance (Carrrie) Suggs of Murfreesboro; Wayne (Karen) Black; aunt by marriage Mary Lou Moore and her adult children Renee, Dana, Mark and Randall; and numerous nieces, great neices, nephews and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, with pastors Victor Lee and Tom Wickes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jimmy Ellis, Lance Suggs, John Matthew Lee, Morgan Lee, Danny Lee, Taylor Lifford, Jerry Ellis, and Wayman Casteel serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Special thanks to Dr. Kent Chastain and Sherry, neighbors in Oak Spring who gave especially attentive care for several years, and friend Carla Raider for the same.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Southern Baptist Relief Fund (Southern Baptist Relief Fund, NAMB, P.O. Box 116543, Atlanta, GA 30368-6543) or Samaritans Purse (Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000).
