Mary Magdalene Clardy Austin, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the family residence. She was a member of West Cleveland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late Lum Clardy and Bonnie Hawkins Clardy and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie Coffman; brothers and sisters, Emmaline Loggins, Ovan Clardy, William Clardy, Margaret Kessel, Sham Clardy, Anna Belle Clardy, and Clarence Clardy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Austin of Cleveland; children: Ann Ledford and husband, Mike of Cleveland, Denise Johnson and husband, Randall of Hartsell, Alabama and Holly Watson and husband, David of Doncaster, England; sister, Flora McMunn of Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren, Kelli Cowart, Stephanie McCluskey, Calwyn Watson, great-grandchildren, Stephen Grantland, Austin Grantland, Paisley Coffman, Hunter Hill, and Karsen McCluskey; great-great-grandchildren, Zayden Grantland and “soon to arrive” Brayson Grantland; and special children, Logan King, Thad Stedman and Allie Stedman. Several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at West Cleveland Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Crane officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
The family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
