Philip C Sylvester

November 11, 1950 — July 27, 2014

Philip C. Sylvester, 63, a resident of Dayton, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the family residence.  He was formerly of Kenosha, WI.  He was a member of Concord Union Church in Evensville, TN.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Vietnam War.  He greatly loved his family and also hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Frost Sylvester and Edith Brake Sylvester.

He is survived by his wife, Garnet Sylvester; his children: son, Jason Sylvester of Sturgis, MI, daughter, Tracy Fowler, of Hanna, WY, and daughter Janet Sylvester of Dayton, TN; nine grandchildren; one sister, Gail Findlay of Lake Orion, MI; two brothers, Bill Sylvester and Jeffrey Sylvester, both of Lake Orion, MI; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill and Debbie Ward.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Sam Olsen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family suggests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, or the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
