Mary Ruth Howard Farmer

August 25, 1922 — August 11, 2014

Mary Ruth Howard Farmer, 91, a resident of Georgetown, passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at the family residence.  She was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lake Farmer; her parents, William Jasper Howard and Matilda Elizabeth Cordell Howard; sister, Dawn McCormick and two brothers, Cordell Howard and Kelly Howard; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by her five sons:  Jimmy “Bo” Farmer and wife, Annette of South Side, Alabama, Roger Paul “Pokey” Farmer and wife, Crystal of Dayton, Ohio, Benjamin “Benny Jo” Farmer and wife, Susan K. of Mauston, WI, Howard Clayburn “Crickett” Farmer and wife, Cecila of Miami, FL and Shelton Tony “Tone-Babe” Farmer and wife, Lisa A. of Oneonta, AL; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Laura Green of Georgetown and Polly Jean Fella of East Ridge; one brother, Raymond Howard and wife, Julie Mae of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend David Evans and Reverend Johnny Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in Johnston Cemetery with Jody Farmer, Jeremy Farmer, Christopher Farmer, Brandon Farmer, Dallas Stuman and Jeff Howard serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
