Dorothy Marilynn Taylor Hood, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the family residence. She was born in Pike County, AL on April 25, 1936. She dedicated her life serving the Lord through many different children’s and women’s ministries during her life. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church. She also served her family as a loving wife, mother, granny and great-granny. She was very talented in ceramics and sewing and also enjoyed cooking.
Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Copeland Taylor Davis and her father, Howell Taylor; daughters, Diane Dugan and Faye Knotts.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Zora Lee (Bo) Hood; children: Gail Engram (Jerry Engram) of Leesburg, GA, Darrell Hood (Wanda Hood) of Old Fort, TN, Edward Hood (Tracy Hood) of Leesburg, GA, Linda Stephens (Otto Stephens) of Columbus, GA; son-in-law, Tony Dugan of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Jennifer Dugan, Rebecca Fugate, Kimberly Ryckeley, Amanda Lamb, Michael Engram, Zachary Hood, Samuel Hood, Zane Hood, Walker Hood, Chance Hood, Benjamen Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Kristin Stephens and Jonathan Stephens; great-grandchildren: Madison Bryant, Raelynn Lamb, Gene Lamb, Darcy Ryckeley, Jeremy Engram and Conner Ryckeley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Michael Engram, Zachary Hood, Samuel Hood, Zane Hood, Walker Hood and Chance Hood serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Beech Spring Baptist Church, PO Box 160, Old Fort, TN 37362.
