Marlene Stansberry

May 7, 1933 — March 16, 2014

Marlene “Jo” Stansberry, 80, of Cleveland, passed March 16th, 2014 peacefully at home with her family by her side.

She was of the Christian faith. She retired from American Uniform. Throughout school, she was a basketball player. She played four years at Bradley Central High School, graduating in 1952, and then was paid to play at Roane State in Harriman. Over the years, she became a loyal Lady Vols fan. She loved spending time with daughters, granddaughters, great-grandchildren, other family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur “Paddlefoot” and Julia Howard; her husband, Billy A. Stansberry; and siblings: Ethel, Anna, Wilbur, Mabel, Arthur, Granville, Martin, Traynor, Herman, and Donald.

Survivors include her two daughters and son-in-law, Toni and James Carvin of Georgetown and Donna Brown of Charleston; granddaughters: Natalie Williams and husband, Justin, Brandi Lonas and husband, Tyler, Amber Holt and husband, Adam, Bambi Cannon and husband, Ernie, and Michaelee Brown; great-grandchildren: Duggan Cannon, Bo Lonas, Gracie Holt, Brie Lonas, Hayneslie Holt, and Greyson Cannon; siblings: Sylvia Cannon and Walter Howard; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in the chapel of  Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Watson and Pastor Ken Bowers officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family and friends will meet at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. for the concluding service.

At the request of “Mamaw”, the pallbearers will be her granddaughters and their husbands: Michaelee Brown, Bambi and Ernie Cannon, Amber and Adam Holt, Brandi and Tyler Lonas, Natalie and Justin Williams.
