Ina Winters, 86, of McDonald, TN has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2014 in Chattanooga. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 19, 1927, to Ms. Clara Frederick-Williams in Letcher County, Thornton, Kentucky where she attended Millstone Grade School and Whitesburg High School. In 1945 she lived and worked in Miami as a switchboard operator and later became a supervisor for Southern Bell Telephone Company. She moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and married the late Staff Sergeant Claude W. Winters on June 22, 1947; they were married for 30 years. They had four children, Claudette, Lew, David and Aaron Winters. Mrs. Winters retired at the age of 79 from the Cleveland Wal-Mart where she was employed for 17 years as a fitting room attendant and a telephone receptionist. Her interests included travel, bowling, and ceramics. She won awards for her creative ceramics and trophies for high game and highest series bowler. She traveled extensively through the United States and overseas.
Mrs. Winters is preceded in death by her husband Claude W. Winters.
She is survived by her children Claudette Gladden (Larry) of Ooltewah, Lew Winters (Wanda) of Georgetown, David Winters (Maggie) of McDonald and Aaron Winters (Christine) of Warrenton, VA; grandchildren Valerie Reese (Shawn), Larry David Gladden II (Crystal), Casey Shaw (Trevor), Benjamin Winters (Wendy), Michael and Emma Winters; great grandchildren John David Gladden, Kendall and Kori Shaw and Kaley Reese. Her sister Nancy Everett (Van) of Kernersville, NC and nephew Christopher Everett (Mandy) of Texas also survive her.
The family will receive visitors at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland TN on Thursday, March 20th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Gary Sears will officiate the funeral service immediately following at 8:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at The National Cemetery on Holtzclaw Ave, Chattanooga, TN on Friday March 21st at 12:30 p.m.
