Jerry Geren

January 25, 1941 — April 1, 2014

Jerry Lance Geren, 73, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility.  He was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. Jerry was a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge and was a 32 degree Mason. He was a well-known painter and paper hanger in Bradley County for fifty years.

Mr. Geren was the son of the late Grover C. “Shorty” and Juanita Mikel Geren and was also preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Kay Burke.

He was happily married for over 55 years to his wife, JoAnn Brewer Geren of Cleveland; he is also survived by his children: Gregory (Greg) Lynn Geren and wife, Gina, Michael D. Geren and wife, Virginia all of Cleveland, Barry Lance Geren and wife, Shirley of Ringgold, GA, and Angie Geren Cox and husband, Stacey of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Brooke Linden and husband, Ryan, Tyler Geren, Lance Geren, Taylor Geren, Tanner Cox, Tucker Cox, and Emma Cox; one great grandchild, Preston Linden; sister, Patricia Ann Ensley and husband, Bill of Cleveland; stepmother, Pauline Taylor Geren; brothers-in-law: Bill Burke of Cleveland, Jimmy Brewer and wife Shirley of Chattanooga, and Jim Maynard of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Brenda Wallace and Frank of Clarksville, Jane Chavis and husband, Chip of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday, April, 4, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Allan Lovelace, pastor of Waterville Baptist Church, officiating . Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tyler Geren, Lance Geren, Tucker Cox, Tanner Cox, Jim Maynard, Jeff Bishop, Ralph Chase, and Lawrence Matthews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Osment, Gilbert Geren, Frank Wallace and Jimmy Brewer. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
