J D Myers
October 15, 1936 — April 10, 2014
The angels carried J.D. Myers, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and best friend any one could have, to heaven after bravely battling cancer for three years. The Lord took control Saturday, May 10 at Sky Ridge with his loving wife, Joyce and family by his side. With a big smile on his face and no more pain and suffering, he went home to be with His Heavenly Father.

J.D. was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church in Athens, TN. J.D. retired from Bendix. He also worked at General Motors, Magic Chef and Wal-Mart.

J.D. was born October 15, 1936 to the late Robert and Lora Myers. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Hudgins Myers; son, Mark Myers; brother, Bill Myers; sisters, Ann Swafford, Shirley Woods, and Faye Brock; and a special brother-in-law, Bobby Carter.

J.D. is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Ernie and wife, Stacy; step-children, Stacy and wife, Jeanetta-Baker, Tresa and husband, Jason Lovingood, Tonya and husband, Dee Parker; special sister-in-law, Carolyn Carter; friend, Bobby Stansberry; grandchildren, Mike, Kenny, Stacey, Chelsea, Caleb and Makenzie; great grandchildren, Seth, Sy and Aiden; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Marie Myers, J.C. and Juanita Myers and Willis “Cotton” Myers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Wednesday May 14, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Brother Bill Walker and Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Brent Carter, Mike and Kenny Myers, Jimmy Rhea and Bobby Stansberry. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Parker, R.J. Hicks and Aiden Myers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
