Nancy Cunningham Binkley

April 13, 1932 — April 16, 2014

Nancy Cunningham Binkley, formerly of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at a local health care facility in Cleveland, Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don R. Binkley of Nashville; her parents, Winton Roscoe and Ruth Vermillion Cunningham of Bristol; and her sister, Mary Sue Alley of Tucker, Georgia.

Mrs. Binkley is survived by her brother, her son, and her daughter.  Her brother and his wife are William Allen Cunningham and Ann Brothers Cunningham of Gallant, Alabama.  Her daughter and her husband are Melissa Binkley Reynolds and Dr. William G. Reynolds of Cleveland. Her son and his wife are David Winton Binkley and Mary Washburn Binkley of St. Augustine, Florida.

Also surviving her are five grandchildren:  John Mark Reynolds of New York City; William Andrew Reynolds of Washington, DC; Emily Wade Reynolds of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Ruth Harton Binkley and Ann Marie Binkley, both of St. Augustine, Florida.

She received her education in the Bristol Tennessee City Schools and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority.  After the death of her husband in 1980, Mrs. Binkley built a successful career as an insurance professional in Nashville before retiring to Cleveland, Tennessee, in 1994.  She was a member of Cleveland’s Broad Street United Methodist Church and the Rodgers Class.  She delighted in Cleveland’s Tuesday Bridge Club and established The Blue Stocking Book Club.

The family will receive friendsat one o’clock until three o’clock the afternoon of Friday, April 18, at Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Her funeral service will follow visitation at the church at three o’clock.  Burial will be Saturday, April 19, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Lebanon Pike in Nashville, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church’s “Unity Center Renovation Fund”.
