William Robert “Doc” Evans, age 97, died at his residence Friday, April 25, 2014. He was a former employee of Superior Cleaners and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was a local farmer who enjoyed hunting and watching the Gaithers videos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Louisa (Prince) Evans; brothers: Pledger, George “Buss”, Ed, L.A., Carlton “Cotton”, Bedford, and Jude Evans; and sisters: Ida Mae Rose, Amy Segraves, Minnie Beaty, and Louise Dodson.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leola Humberd Evans; two sons: Terry Evans and wife Dora, and Bobby Evans; one grandson, Darrell Evans and wife Melanie; great grandchildren: Amber and Jonathan Jones, all of Cleveland; and also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Tim Paul and Johnnie Humberd officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens concluding with a white dove release ceremony. Serving as pallbearers will be John Dodson, Eddie Evans, Danny Evans, Steve Humberd, Alan Humberd, and Lonnie Lynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Evans, Bill Bain, Skip Griswold, Jim Young, Jerry Garland, and Brian Davis.
