Julia Mae Swafford, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 in a Georgia healthcare facility. She was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from Cookes Manufacturing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman Newman and Bessie Mullins Newman; two sons, Walter Swafford and Charles Swafford; four daughters, Linda Cotte, Teresa Herron, Darlene Swafford and Charlene Swafford.
Survivors include her children: Brenda Prater and husband, Ronnie, Billy Swafford, Bobby Swafford and wife, Carolyn all of Cleveland, Crystal Swafford of Mount Airy, GA, Steven Swafford of Soddy Daisy; two step daughters: Faye Boyd and Lynda Swafford McEwan; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Newman of Meigs County.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Sewee Cemetery in Niota.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
