Wayne Lee Bishop, 77, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 in a local hospital. He was a member of Four Point Baptist Church. He was self-employed with Bishop’s Auto Repair and Benton Pontiac Buick and Jones Auto Repair. He served in the National Guard for many years.
Mr. Bishop was the son of the late Roy Elmer Bishop and Blanche Marie Harvey Bishop and was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Joe Don Bishop and Jimmy Ray Bishop; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Johnson and Johnny Cooke; one sister-in-law, Patsy Ann Cronan.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Ann Rayburn Bishop of Cleveland; four children: Allen Wayne Bishop and wife, Donna of Madison, GA, Roger Lynn Bishop and wife, Betty, Jeff Lee Bishop and wife, Wendi, and Jennifer Lynn Yoder and husband, Danny all of Cleveland; eight grandchildren: Ryan Bishop, Trey Bishop, Alayna Bishop, Emily Bishop, Bayley Bishop, Callie Bishop, Kayla Yoder and Emma Yoder; one sister, Louise Cooke of Cleveland; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Johnson of Cleveland and Ann Rayburn and husband, Kenneth of Charleston; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Roy Tatum and Reverend Ray Cheathem officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Ryan Bishop, Trey Bishop, Wayne Johnson, Mike Lynn, Jeff Lawson and Jimmy Tatum serving as pallbearers. Sam Rayburn and Kenneth Rayburn will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
