MARY ELLEN LANE, 80, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014, at her residence. She was a faithful and active member of Westwood Baptist Church for many years. She retired from Cleveland Enamel Plant after 25 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, James and Pearl Curtis McCracken; one son, Terry Allen Lane; a twin sister, Louise McCracken Hamilton; sister Ruby McCracken; brothers, James Hillard McCracken, Winfred McCracken, and Ralph McCracken.
She is survived by three children, Jimmy Edward Lane and wife Debbie, Patricia Ann Lane, and David Eugene Lane, all of Cleveland; a special daughter-in-law, Laura Lane; 9 grandchildren, Scotty Lane, Melissa Simpson and husband Antonio, Brittany Pyke and husband Travis, and Tanner Lane, all of Cleveland, Sgt. Shawna Lane and fiancé Peter Moise, of Norfolk, VA, Jimmy E. Lane, Jr, and wife Lindsay of Smyrna, TN, Julie Epperson and husband Andrew, of Evansville, IN, Tina Russell and husband Kenneth, Jr., of Polk Co., and Alexis LeAnna Lane, of Columbia, SC; ten great-grandchildren, Amber and Desmond Simpson of Cleveland, Haley and Hunter Mallory and Kaden Lane, all of Norfolk, VA, Chloe Epperson, of Evansville, IN; Lily Mae and Jase Edward Lane, of Smyrna, TN, Grace and Jacob Russell of Polk Co.; a special friend Lois Kennedy; and a loving pet dog named Sassy; and also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Jim Caywood. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. Serving as pallbearers will be: Eddie McCracken, Kenneth Russell, Jr., Kenny McCracken, Keith Rutledge, Glenn McCracken, and Jan McCowan.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the funeral home.
