Julia E. (Lucy) Calfee, 78, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Breeds, IL passed away January 8, 2014 in a Chattanooga hospital. She went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord Jesus and join her beloved late husband, Billy G. Calfee. She was a member of North Loop Baptist Church in Crockett, TX. She was born a small town country girl who saw and lived in places she only read about in books before becoming an Army wife.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Calfee; son, John W. Calfee; parents, John H. and Maude Foulk Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, one sister and five brothers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Billy Calfee, Jr. and Javako Eric Calfee of Cleveland; Richard Calfee of Pikeville; Jeanette (Michael) Hayes and Lynn (Lonnie) Cross of Cleveland; Cynthia (Dennis) Lowery of Crockett, TX; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Peterson of Canton, IL; several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Eric Calfee, Michael Hayes, Dustin Duckett, Luis Escobar, Lonnie Cross and Charles (Shorty) Calfee serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at the funeral home.
