Amos McCann

November 18, 1920 — January 14, 2014

Amos McCann, 93, a lifelong resident of Bradley County went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.  He was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the Community Hall Church in Cleveland and Mercy Tabernacle in Benton.  He loved fishing, hunting and antiques.

Mr. McCann was the son of the late John W. McCann and Julia Moses Black McCann and was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel John McCann; brothers:  Roscoe Black, Ernest McCann, Eulis McCann and Burkett McCann; and sister, Mamie Goins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Deedy McCann of Cleveland; one daughter, Patsy McCann DeVivo and husband, Dr. Paul DeVivo of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Jane McCann of Trion, GA; five grandchildren:  Charles Patrick Lawson and wife, Cori of Cleveland, Christopher Carl Lawson of Cleveland, William Amos McCann and wife, Shatonya of Cleveland, Bud McCann and wife, Geneva of Cleveland and Melissa McCann of Cleveland; nine great grandchildren; one brother, John W. McCann “Preacher man” and wife, Hazel of Benton; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Bishop John W. McCann, Pastor Jeannie Cissom and Pastor Guinn Green officiating.  Interment will follow in Hays Shed Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at the funeral home.
