Laura Marie Aslinger Guinn, 102, of Cleveland was welcomed by her Savior into her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
She grew up on a farm in Sale Creek, TN within a large family during the depression. She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. At her death, she was a member of East Cleveland Baptist Church. She was very supportive of her Pastor husband. She taught in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and was the pianist for a number of churches. She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed making garden and growing beautiful flowers. Her sewing and quilting skills were admired by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H.D. and Nora Aslinger; husband, Rev. Leonard T. Guinn; son, Melvin E. Guinn; sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzie) McKinney, Delanie Elsea, Lydia Aslinger, and Euva Elsea; brothers, Earl Alsinger and Creed Aslinger; stepmother, Mary Turner Aslinger; step brothers, Walter Turner and Earnest Turner; daughters-in-law, Ruby Carden Guinn, Dora Clayton Guinn, Elinor Emory Guinn; sons-in-law, Edward Roe, Kenneth Leamon; grandson, Christopher A. Buckner.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Mary Alice Roe and Naomi Leamon both of Cleveland, TN; two sons, Donald Guinn (Doris) of Rossville, GA and Thomas Guinn (Janey) of Charleston, TN; daughter-in-law, Ann Guinn of Cleveland, TN; two sisters, Lillian Brock of Ardmore, TN and Juanita Aslinger of Dayton, TN; grandchildren: Brenda Hampton (Curtis), Teresa Allmon (Rocky), Dennis Guinn (Alicia), Rene’ Haney (Rick), Greg Guinn (Cherry), Phyllis Ivey (Ray), Billie Sue Lankford, Patricia Brown (Gleason), Javis Guinn (Betty), Wayne Guinn (Mimi), Craig Guinn (Vickie), Timothy Guinn (Eunice), Gary Dale (Susan), Velinda Alamo, Wynonia McKinney (Bart), Barry Leamon (Avanell), Rita Pace (Tim), Randall Leamon (Sharron), Susan Liner (Charles), Artia Deakins (Mark), Karen Nejati (Hassen), Tommy Baker (Randy); 52 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to caregivers, Caris Health Care also special thanks to Rita Klein and a wonderful church family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the East Cleveland Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Lockman, Rev. David Ray and Rev. Marvin Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd. NE, Cleveland, TN 37311.
