Gaylord Humble

January 5, 1926 — November 25, 2013

Gaylord Humble was born January 5, 1926 to Maude Parmley Humble and Marion Frank Humble in the Parnell Community of Wayne County, KY. Gaylord found Christ in 1951 and served Him for 62 years. He departed this life November 25, 2013 surrounded by his family and holding the hand of his wife and best friend of 66 years. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He was a Bible teacher and mentor to many throughout his life. He was a member of Lakeview Church of God. He was a decorated World War II veteran having served in the Navy in the South Pacific. He received 3 Battle Stars and Unit Citations. He was employed with Chrysler Corporation for 30 years and later owned Strawhill Farm where he was an equestrian and horse trainer.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Maude; four brothers: Alonzo, George, Lester and Doil; six sisters: Martha, Gertie, Clora, Grace, Effie and Oveline.

He married Fannie Rean Parmley on June 14, 1947. To this union was born Nicholas Wade (Sandy) Humble of Cleveland; Alrick Galen (Peggy) Humble of Monticello, KY; April Joy (Joe) Lamberson of Purcellville, VA; Brenda Cheryl (Mark) Miller of Edmond, OK; and John Wesley (Laura) Humble of Cleveland. They have 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; brother, Daniel (Ruth) Humble of Monticello, KY; brother-in-law, Phillip Parmley (Judy) of Monticello, KY; sister-in-law, Mimi Guffey of Tipton, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at Parnell Church of God in Monticello, KY with Reverends Dustin Wilds and Kelvin Upchurch officiating. Interment will follow in Parnell Methodist Church Cemetery with his grandsons and sons-in-law: Mark Miller, Michael Humble, Lucas Humble, Dylan Humble, Mat Miller and Joe Lamberson serving as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday November 27, 2013 at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland and on Friday from 12-2 p.m. at Parnell Church of God in Monticello, KY prior to the service.
