Viola Cretton, 89, of Cleveland, Tennessee, and formerly Crown Point, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 30, 1923. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and loved being around others. She was always known for her selfless ways and putting others first. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Karolina Lehocky; husband, Orville Cretton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Cretton and brother, Edward Lehocky. Her survivors include her children, Carolyn and Joe Shimko of Cleveland, Tennessee, Dan and Janice Cretton of Haiku, Hawaii, Paul and Sandra Cretton of Cleveland, Tennessee, and Lisa Cretton of Crystal Lake, Illinois; sister-in-law, Charlene Lehocky of Crown Point, Indiana; and nephew, Dr. Brett Lehocky of Bakersfield, California. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring grandmother by her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, 8303 Taft Street, Merrillville, Indiana. Friends may visit with the family at the church one hour prior to the service (10:00-11:00 am). Interment will follow the service in Calvary Cemetery.
