Bobby J Phillips

Bobby J. Phillips, age 75, a lifelong resident of Bradley County, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 in a local hospital surrounded by his family. He was a devoted member of the East Side Church of Christ. He was devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served four years in the United States Navy where he earned the title of petty officer 3rd class in aircraft engine machinist and two good conduct medals. He was a member of Painter Local 226 of Chattanooga and a life time member of International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades for over forty years. Mr. Phillips was the son of the late Luther Thomas Phillips and Frankie Pauline Jordan Phillips and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Gail Phillips; brothers, Leon Phillips, David Phillips and Eddie Phillips and his wife, Debbie Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Caroline Wooten Phillips of Bradley County; three children: Timothy Phillips, April Wilson and husband, Jason Wilson and Robin Phillips and Jamey Raines all of Bradley County; grandchildren: Aaron Leek, Alexis Johnson, Allison Raines, Amber Raines, Sierra Raines and Chelsea Phillips; brothers: Skeet Phillips and Jerry Phillips both of Bradley County; sisters: Linda Rakestraw, Carol Britt and Chris Steele all of Bradley County; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Jeff Archey, Minister Herdis Kyle and Minister Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Brandon Maynard, Casey Maynard, Jamey Raines, Jason Wilson, Aaron Leek and Scott Leek will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the funeral home.
