Shirley McIntire

July 10, 1931 — September 6, 2013

Shirley Ray Cornutt McIntire, 82, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital with her family at her side. She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School class of 1949 and Tennessee Technological University. She was retired from Bradley Central High School after thirty five years of service teaching chemistry, physics and algebra. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Rogers Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, Laura Smith Circle, Congregational Care, Lunch Bunch and the Garden Club. She was a co-captain of the 1948 -1949 Bearette Basketball team that won the 1949 East TN Tournament which later became the state tournament. She was also a member of the Bradley County Old Timers Hall of Fame. She was preceded in death by parents, Albert Raymond Cornutt and Willie Lee Brown Cornutt; and husband, Robert Franklin McIntire, Sr., of Cleveland. She is survived by two children, Bob McIntire and wife Melinda of Cleveland and Lee Ann Stinnett and husband Tim of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Robby McIntire and wife Amber, Emily Jones and husband Jeremy, Jake Smiley, and Corey Stinnett; one great grandchild, Haley Jones; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Robby McIntire, Corey Stinnett, Jake Smiley, David Turpin, Jack Hall, Ray Donahoo, David Chapman, and Jerry Frazier will serve at pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. ? 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
