Adelene Martin, 76, of Cleveland, was called home on Sunday, September 8, 2013. She was born May 13, 1937, to Joseph Earl and Zula Mae Craig. She was of the Christian faith and was baptized as a symbol of her faith in Jesus Christ. Adelene was unapologetically true to herself. She was quick witted and taught her children how to laugh at life?s absurdities and how to persevere in the face of obstacles. As well as her parents, she was also predeceased in death by five brothers: JE, John, Pete, James Earl and Gary Craig. She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Kevin Davenport, Tonya and Jim Gumm, Rita and Kenny Lee, Rhonda and Bobby Combs, and Debra and Randy Powers; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Christi Martin. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren. She was especially close to and enjoyed spending time with her younger grandchildren: Michael, Madison and Matthew Davenport, Mallory Gumm, and Ashley and Gracie Martin, who affectionately called her Mimi. Her other grandchildren include: Justin Maples and wife Carissa, Brian Combs, Heather Zumstein and husband Toby, McNeil Jenkins and wife Raven, and Marie Roberts and husband Steve. Also surviving are three sisters and one brother-in-law: Dessie and Ken Helton, JoAnn Black and Elizabeth Whaley; sisters-in-law: Betty Craig, Ada Craig and Sheila Craig; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013, in the chapel at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Her family will receive friends from 5 ? 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
