David Tate Marler, 72, a resident of Riceville, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in a Chattanooga hospital. He attended Charleston First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and more fishing, and loved going to flea markets. He always loved spending time with his family and animals. He was retired from Advanced Photographic Solutions. Mr. Marler was the son of the late Robert Tate Marler and Maggie Lucille Hall Marler. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Stewart Marler of Riceville; six sons: Ricky Rogers and wife, Lisa of Cleveland, Mike Rogers and wife, Tammy of Cleveland, David Tate Marler, Jr of San Francisco, CA, Jerry Lee Marler and wife, Sylvia of Cleveland, Dennis Johnson and wife, Maylena of Riceville and Jacob T. Marler of Riceville; one daughter, Dena Myers and husband, Brandon of Calhoun, TN; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Phillips and husband, Ernie of Cleveland; one brother, Ronald Marler and wife, Linda of Cleveland; several other family members also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Harrol Millsaps officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
