Mary Jim Kelly Cogdill

June 6, 1955 — May 27, 2012

Mary Jim Kelly Cogdill, 56, a resident of Cleveland, TN passed away Sunday morning, May 27, 2012 at Skyridge Medical center surrounded by her loving family after a 7-year battle with cancer. She worked in the pharmacy at Skyridge Medical Center for 35 years. She attended First United Methodist Church of Cleveland, TN. She was a beloved wife of 37 years, mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She was a loving grandmother, called "J.J." by her only granddaughter. Her life is reflected in the passage from 2 Timothy 4:6-8 " For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing." Her mother, Mary Grace Layne Kelly, preceded her in death. Survivors include: husband, Charles R. Cogdill; daughter, Kelly Cogdill Bishop and husband, Joshua of Knoxville; son, James R. Cogdill and wife, Sloane of Knoxville; granddaughter, Mary Grace Bishop, of Knoxville; father, James W. Kelly; brother, Chip Kelly and wife Jill; sister, Susan Merriman and husband Lynn; aunt, Evelyn T. Layne all of Dunlap and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Andy Fergurson and the Reverend Sarah Varnell officiating. A private interment will be on Thursday, May 31 at 10:00 CST at the Kelly Family Cemetery in Dunlap, TN with Ray Grant, Bill Burrows, Chad Wolfenden, Phil Burger, Gary Fuller, Mika Reynolds serving as pall bearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Physicians and staff of Skyridge Medical Center. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 2:00-7:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
