Larry Gentry

March 3, 1942 — March 15, 2012

Charles Larry Gentry, 70, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. He was a member of Mt. Olive Ministries where he faithfully sang in the choir. He loved and sang Southern Gospel Music where he sang tenor in various singing groups including the King?s Rangers, A Few Good Men, Tribute and the Psalmsmen Quartet. Before his retirement, Mr. Gentry owned and operated Gentry Wood Finishers for 31 years. For the past seven years, he worked for SETHRA and was active in the Senior Activities Center on Urbane Rd. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Reverend L. C. Gentry and Edna Bivens Gentry; and brother, Jerry Gentry. Survivors include his beloved wife of soon to be 50 years, Mildred S. Gentry of Cleveland; daughter, Pam Balinger and husband, Tony of Cleveland; son, Chris Gentry and wife, Melody of Benton; 5 grandchildren: Lacey Parker, Whitney Balinger, Ashley Moore, Leighton Gentry and Kyra Gentry; brother, Curtis Gentry and wife, Earlene of Cleveland; sisters: Becky Perry of Cleveland; Phyllis Scoggins and husband, Bill of McDonald; sister-in-law, Betty Gentry of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday March 19 2012 at Mt. Olive Ministries with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Kevin Gentry, Stacey Poteet, Brian Woody, Jason Morgan, Scott Yates, Billy Walker and Leighton Gentry serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home Sunday, March 18, 2012.
