Bernard Delashmitt, 83, a resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. Bernard served in the United States Army and was awarded the Soldier?s Medal for driving an ammunition truck away from a danger zone in Korea, thereby saving several lives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Maroon Delashmitt; one daughter, Kimberly Diane and one son, Johnathan Lee; his parents, Paul and Vio Delashmitt; one sister, Pauline Reed. He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Delashmitt Whitten of Cleveland; grandchildren: Stephanie Whitten Kerr and Hilliary Whitten Green both of Franklin, TN and Savannah Whitten Hoehn of Nashville; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Price of Cleveland. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Laurel Hill Lebanon Church Cemetery with Reverend Russell Maroon officiating. Military honors will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the Gates Family of Cleveland who are long time family friends.
