William Harold Phillips, Sr., 73, of Cleveland, passed away, Thursday, May 3, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of the Waterville Ruritan Club and a member of the Friday Night Mixed Bowling Club. He was a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church in Benton, where he was an adult Sunday school class teacher. He also enjoyed having Sunday family dinners at his home and reading his Bible. After 30 years of inability, he is now "walking" on streets of gold. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl George Phillips and Mamie Ruth Sherwood Phillips and brother, George Franklin "Frank" Phillips. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lavonda "Granny" Phillips; children, Devonia Marie Eversole and husband, Harry, William Harold Phillips, Jr., Pamela Jo Freeman, Connie Denise Hagood, Mikel Wayne Phillips and wife, Michelle, Donna Gail Terrell and husband Ricky, and Tina Darlene Couch and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Stephen Adam Swilling, Carl Edward Swilling, John Matthew Swilling, Dustin Shane Swilling, William Kenneth Phillips, Tona Shauntae Headrick, Cody Marshall Reagan, Anthony Michael Phillips, Nicole Kathleen Phillips, William Christopher Cameron Terrell, Allison Ruth Elizabeth Terrell, and Scotty Dewayne Couch; sisters. Carlene Williams, Mayme Beason, Shelia Schmitz, Sharon Christiansen, and Betty Zeller; brothers, Jack Phillips, Paul Phillip, and Everett Phillips; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, at Welcome Valley Baptist Church with the Reverend Earl Gentry, the Reverand Lee Ingram, and the Reverend Nathan Headrick officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Su day, May 6, 2012, at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and on Monday, May 7, 2012, from 1:00-2:00 at the church prior to the service.
