GLORIA JUNE STINNETT ROSS, 84, of Rome, formerly of Tennga, died on January 14, 2012, at Redmond Medical Center. Mrs. Ross was the daughter of the late E.C. Stinnett and Jesse Brown Stinnett of Maryville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Ross, Jr., of Tennga, Georgia, sisters Ruby Williams and Mamie Cupp of Maryville, Tennessee, and brother Pete Stinnett of Garden City, Michigan. She is survived by her son, Dr. Gary (Phyllis) Ross of Rome, daughter Jamie Ross Burkhalter and granddaughter Gloria Grace( G.G.) Burkhalter of Crandall, Georgia, nephew Dr. Jerry (Glenda) Williams, grandnephews David (Maria) Williams and Brian Scott Williams, and great grandniece Catherine Williams, all of Knoxville, Tennessee, nephew Eddie (Janice) Ross of Cleveland, TN, grandnephew Jeff (Sarah) Ross and great grandnephew Hudson Ross, all of Chattanooga, TN. A native of Maryville, Tennessee, Mrs. Ross was a member of the Maryville High School class of 1944, and was certified in Tennessee to teach piano. Mrs. Ross worked diligently alongside her husband who entered the carpet industry in the late 1940s, establishing Murray County’s first factory to manufacture tufted textiles. She was a devoted member of Cisco Baptist Church where she served as church pianist for over forty years. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 16, 2012, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland, Tennessee. The funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, in Clarks Grove Cemetery in Maryville, Tennessee.
