Dorothy Ruth Carson

January 25, 1921 — February 1, 2012

Dorothy Ruth Carson, 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, went to the pearly gates to meet her husband and her son, David, on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always thinking of others. She was a member of Chestuee United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She was retired from Benton Banking Company after 38 years of service. Mrs. Carson was the daughter of the late Samuel E. Bain and Annie Curbow Bain and was also preceded in death by her husband, G.W. "Short" Carson; loving son, David Carson; sisters: Dollie Hawkins and Dovie Culpepper; brothers: S.E. Bain, Melvin Bain and Clyde Bain. She is survived by her son, Walter Ray Carson of Cleveland; grandchildren: Tina Ruth Carson Swanson of Cleveland and Karen Trentham of Nashville; five great-grandchildren: Lucas, Autumn, Shilah, Ryan and Alliyah; two sisters-in-law: Florene Bain and Ada Bain both of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews including Don Bain and wife, Brenda. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Betsy Switzer officiating. Interment will follow in Chilcutt Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Jack Kersey, Wayne Burgess, Kevin Burgess, Clay Burgess, Lonnie Lynn and Jute Miller will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
