Roy L. Humphrey, 79, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the family residence. He was a member of North Cleveland Church of God. He retired from the United States Army after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Veterans? Association. He was an ordained Bishop in the Church of God. Mr. Humphrey was the son of the late Joe B. Humphrey and Annabelle Christopher Humphrey and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Troy Humphrey and Billy Don Humphey and a sister, Sue Thom. Survivors include his wife Ann Humphrey of Cleveland; children, Maria Haney and husband Rick of Fuquay Varina, NC, Josef Humphrey and wife Teresa of Hopkinsville, KY, Lena Barber and husband, Phil of Cleveland, TN; ten grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Connolly and Shirley Stein both of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Jay Humphrey and Doy Humphrey both of Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at the North Cleveland Church of God with Pastor Mitch Maloney, Bishop Rich Deem, Bishop Robert Moore, Reverend Max Morris and Lena Barber officiating. Interment will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. Jack Day, Eddie Jones, Zach Parker, Kaleb Mosley, Ricky D. Haney and Jerry Mosley will serve as pallbearers. Trey Adams and E.J. Russell will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
