Ruth M. Austin, 76, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the family residence. She was a member of the Cohutta Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Flint Springs Ruritan Club. She was retired form McKee Foods after twenty years of service. Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late Ileff Cleveland Mitchell and Maggie Thomas Mitchell and was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Smiley” Austin; one brother, Frank Mitchell and one sister, Pauline Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Willie Austin and wife Grace Austin of Cleveland; two grandchildren, Stephanie White and husband, Josh White and Stacy Flowers and husband, Tanner Flowers all of Cleveland; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hunter and Holden White and Chloe Flowers; one brother, Morgan Mitchell and wife Jewell Mitchell of Chatsworth, GA; sister-in-law, Linda Mitchell of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Read officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Cemetery in McDonald with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
