Betty Sue Norton

Betty Watts Norton, 84, a resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at her residence. A member of Westwood Baptist Church since moving to Cleveland in 1965 and where she served in various capacities, including as church librarian for over 40 years, Mrs. Norton was also an active volunteer in many community organizations, including serving on the Cleveland/Bradley Community Concert Association Board of Directors and a as an officer of the North Lee Ruritan club. Mrs. Norton was the daughter of the late Thomas Martin Watts, Sr. and Jeanette Harris Watts and was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Martin Norton and daughter, Susan Eileen Norton. Survivors include her children, Sam Norton and wife, Jan Norton of Sugar Land, TX and Scott Norton and wife, Merietta of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Jessica and Chevis Jackson of Pensacola, FL, Sarah and Don Blakeney of Blountville, TN, Emily and Jonathan Roberts of Zachary, LA, and Kirkley and Lynley Norton of Baton Rouge, LA; and great grandson, Caleb Blakeney and great granddaughter, Leah Blakeney both of Bountville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Smith, Reverend Jim Caywood and Reverend Bert Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Her family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
