Jerry Roland Arp, 64, a resident of Cleveland, passed away in a Chattanooga hospital Friday, November 18, 2011. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and also attended Cleveland State Community College. He worked at Bishop Baking Company and Burlington Woolen Mills prior to his service with the United States Post Office in Cleveland. He then was appointed Postmaster in McDonald, Tennessee, where he served 27 years until retirement. He was a well respected independent developer/contractor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a long time member of South Cleveland Church of God. For the past four years, he had been active in the Men’s Golf Association at Rarity Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Donnie Hedden Arp; and his father in-law and mother-in-law who were very special to him, Clyde and Betty Holloway. He is survived by his wife, Lana Holloway Arp of Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law: Ryan and Aimee Arp, and Cory and Kristen Arp, all of Cleveland; two very special and beautiful grandchildren, Hudson Ryan Arp and Ellie Brogan Arp of Cleveland, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Wanda Arp of Cleveland, TN. A third grandchild, a granddaughter, is expected in January, 2012, and he was anxiously awaiting her arrival. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011, at South Cleveland Church of God with Reverend Bill Winters , Dr. Carl Hobbs, and Reverend Chris Moody officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Lee Cemetery in McDonald concluding with a white dove release ceremony. Pallbearers will be Dan Glasscock, Jackie Buckner, James Anderson, Larry Hall, Doug Silver, Jim Reynolds, Butch Clark. Honorary pallbearers include Brian Holloway and Keith Holloway. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at South Cleveland Church of God.
