Waymon Ophas Davis, 74, a life long resident of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, in a local hospital. He was the founder of Davis Painting Company. He was a member of Hiwassee Baptist Church and also BPOE Elks Lodge #1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ophas and Buelah Matthews Davis, son, Waymon "Brian" Davis and brother, Paul D. Davis. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Casteel Davis of Cleveland; two sons: Tony Keith Davis and wife Sherry, and Danny Allen Davis and wife Jennifer, all of Cleveland; one daughter, Sharon Davis Cate and husband Tom of Cleveland; eight grandchildren: Amy Tippens, Niki Boyd, Rachel Barrera, Sara Farmer, Katie Davis, Hunter Davis, Peyton Davis and Parker Davis; eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Naomi Droke, Shirleen Vassey, both of Cleveland, and Connie Delmas of Riceville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Joel Huffstetler officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jason Barrera, Byron Farmer, Jonathan Dip, Kyle Tippens, Tim Waldrop, Hunter Davis and Tommy Cassada serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallearers include Jerry Wilson, Jimmy "Red" Silvers, Virgil Nelson, Carson Lawson and Bill Casteel. His family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
