Daniel W. Knoll, 86, resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at his home. He was a resident of Cleveland for the past 18 years and was a member Broad Street United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. He was a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute and attended Yale University and Brown University. He retired from Hughes Aircraft as an electronic engineer following 33 years of service. He was a founding member of the Cleveland Barber Shop Chorus. He was the son of the late Paul B. and Elizabeth Light Knoll, and was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel Scott Knoll. He is survived by his wife of 65 ½ years, Janet Knoll of Cleveland; two daughters: Donna Stutzman and husband Robert of Newcastle, CA, and Karen Knoll and husband Stephen Gentry of Escondido, CA; one son, David Knoll and wife Elizabeth of Charleston; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two sisters: Marian Snyder of New Cumberland, PA, and Patricia Light of South Hadley, MA; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 18, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Reed Shell and Rev. Debbie Stokes officiating. His family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
