Virginia Jo Combs

Virginia Jo Combs, 77, resident of Cleveland passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at the home of her brother. She was a member of Burdette Baptist Church. She provided 52 years of devoted employment to Millers Department Store and remained with that company thru many changes of ownership from Hess, Proffitts and then to Belk Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Rufus Combs, her parents Clifford C. and Minnie Mae Murphy, and two brothers, Garland Murphy and Jimmy Murphy. She is survived by one brother Clifford E. Murphy of Cleveland. Three sisters Eloris Richey of Florence, Alabama, Deloris Dickson of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Peggy Stawinski of Laurel, Maryland. In addition, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 27, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, with Reverend Timothy Richey officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnston Cemetery in Meigs County. Hank Stawinski, Timothy Richey, Clifford Richey, Robert Richey, Dee Evans, and Dan Bethune will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Scannapiego, Rodney Carden, Thomas Lynn and Patsy Lynn. The service will conclude with a White Dove release ceremony. Her family will receive friends Saturday, November 26, from 3pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
