C.F. "Buddy" Cope, Jr, 83 , a resident of Cleveland, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, November 26, 2011, surrounded by the comfort of his family and friends. He was born December 6, 1927 in Morristown, TN. He made his home in Cleveland, TN where he married his sweetheart, Barbara Cope , and raised his family. As a young man, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army. At one time he was an active member of American Legion. He and his wife owned and operated Cope?s Restaurant for 33 years along with Cope?s Trucking and Cope?s Furniture. He was greatly loved by his family and friends, and his legacy will continue through his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a humble man of faith, following his life verse 2 Chronicles 7:14. He was a devoted member of Waterville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was preceded in death by parents, Carter F. Cope and Willie B. Woods Cope and daughter, Karen Sue Cope. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Cope; children, Rick Cope and wife, Teresa and Alan Cope and wife, Debbie, all of Cleveland; sister, Polly Trotter and husband, Darrell of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Whitney Cope of Knoxville, Jonathan Cope of Chattanooga, Jason Cope of Cleveland, Ryan Cope of Cleveland and Jeremy Calhoun and wife, Emily of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Kaley and Cami Cope of Morristown and Camden Calhoun of Cleveland and his special buddy and adopted grandson, Reed Bolten of Cleveland. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Lovelace and Pastor Joe Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and with the deacons of Waterville Baptist Church serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 on Sunday, November 27, 2011 and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorials be made to the Waterville Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice of Chattanooga.
