Betty Davis

March 9, 1935 — September 13, 2011

Betty Pendergrass Bettis Davis, age 76, went home to be with her loving Father, Tuesday, September 13, 2011. She was a graduate of Chattanooga City High School, a long time employee of America National Bank and Commerce Union Bank, prior to transferring to Nashville, TN with her husband, she retired from Gideon’s International. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cleveland, TN and a member of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class that she loved so much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel D. and Tennie Pendergrass; brothers, Arvel D. Jr. and Donald Pendergrass; sister, Barbara A. Fritts and Clyde W. Bettis, Gregg and Sandy’s father. She is survived by her loving husband, Homer E. Davis, daughters, Sandra B. (William R.) Russell, Vicky D. (Allen) Henderson; sons, Gregg S. (Karla) Bettis, C. Stanley Davis; grandchildren, Joshua N. Visage, Elizabeth P. Russell, Matthew S. Bettis, Lydia A. Bettis, Daniel A. Bettis and Caleb Davis; nephews, Danny (Debbie) Bettis, Mark (Soontartee) Bettis and Tim (Debi) Kennedy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Cleveland with Dr. Allan Lockerman, Pastor Jim Gibson and Reverend Max Morris officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Danny Bettis, Mark Bettis, Joshua N. Visage, Matthew S. Bettis, Ryan Kennedy and Todd Autry will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home of Cleveland, TN and also one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. The family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, or His Hands Extended Interdenominational Devotional.
