Michael J. Marsh, Sr., 69, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a parishoner of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. As long as his health permitted, he attended daily Mass. He had a deep devotion to the Rosary and The Divine Mercy. He loved the Tennessee mountains, traveling and being with his family. He retired from the City of New Orleans Police Department as a police sergeant with 33 years of service. He relocated to Cleveland after Hurricane Katrina. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Marsh was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert J. Marsh and Anna Ziegler Marsh and was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Marsh of Cleveland; four sons and spouses: Michael Marsh, Jr. and Mary of Tamarac, Florida, Kenneth and Pam Marsh of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, Joseph and Dawn Marsh of Carriere, Mississippi and Erik Marsh of San Diego, California; one daughter, Cheryl Ory of Mt. Carmel, TN; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert A. Marsh of Metarie, LA; several nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral liturgy outside of mass will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Father P.J. McGinnity officiating. His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
