Josephine Phillips, age 88, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at her residence surrounded with loving family. She devoted her life to the Lord’s work, her family and serving the students at Oak Grove for sixteen years with delicious meals and was known for her ability to cook some delicious chocolate treats. She was a member of Union Grove Church of Christ. She will be missed by her loving family and friends. Her love and kindness was seen to all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dina Hicks Still, her loving husband, Hubert Phillips, her daughter, Wanda Haney, her son-in-law Jimmy Haney and several brothers and sisters, Martin “Cotton” Still, Roy “Jack” Still, Gussie Phillips, Ida Mae Still, Mary Humphrey, Sue McConnell and Margaret J. Renner. She is survived by one daughter, Peggy Brown and one son, Larry Phillips and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Phillips; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren all of Cleveland; two sisters, Frances McConnell and Betty Elmore and spouse, Benny; one brother, Robert K. Still all of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; one life long friend, Ruth Pierce of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Ted Gobble and Minister Steve Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with Coby Phillips, Ronnie Phillips, Eric Goins, Randall Clark, James Brown, Mike Abernathy and Brian Frady serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and also from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
