Robert Martin Millard

April 30, 1920 — September 6, 2011

Robert Martin Millard, 91, a resident of Morningside in Cleveland for the past three years and formerly of Old Hickory, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in Signature Healthcare. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp serving during World War II and was retired from Dupont in Old Hickory after 36 years of service. He was an accomplished artist and in younger days was involved in baseball and boxing. He was the son of the late Robert Edward Lee Millard and Burdah Martin Millard and was preceded in death by his wife, Ava Leda Smith Millard. He is survived by two daughters: Dana Beth McGraw of Atlanta, GA, and Melinda Albritton and husband Gregg of Cleveland; four grandchildren: Amy Lee and husband Trey of Nashville, Grayson McGraw of St. Augustine, FL, Joshua Albritton of Chattanooga, and Rachel Cupp and husband Shawn of Knoxville; three great grandchildren: Gardner Lee and Camden Lee, both of Nashville, and Ava McGraw of St. Augustine, FL; one sister, Opal Fergus of Lavergne; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2:00 CDT Saturday, September 10, 2011, in Dickens Family Cemetery at Maggarte Community in Smith County, TN, with Rev. Viki Matson officiating. Pallbearers include Gregg Albritton, Trey Lee, Shawn Cupp, Gardner Lee, Camden Lee and Ava McGraw. His family will receive friends Thursday from 5 ? 8 p.m. at Old Hickory First Baptist Church and Friday from 5 ? 8 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN.
