Edgar Knight

April 16, 1924 — June 20, 2011

Edgar Knight, 87, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. He was a member of the Cohulla Baptist Church in Cleveland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran where he served in World War II in Europe. He was the son of the late John Steven Knight and Laura Watson Knight. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Lee ‘Parks’ Knight; brothers: Britton Davis Knight, Boyd Knight, Winfred Knight, William Thomas Knight, Edward Knight and Jonah Knight; sisters: Dicie Myrtle Ogle, Martha Ann Carlton, Ruby Lea Watkins, Ollie Nichols, Sue Francis Trotter and Dorothy Marie Pickett; and his loving daughter-in-law, Alma Ruth ‘Clark’ Knight. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Gary and Lyn Knight of Riceville; Roger and Brenda Knight; Denny and Imogene Knight, all of Cleveland; five grandchildren: Steve Knight, Tony Knight, Eddie Knight, Misty Williams and Jason Knight; seven great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Dudley Nichols officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. Wayne Williams, Steve Knight, Jason Knight, Tony Knight, Eddie Knight, Dylan Knight and Larry Humbard will serve as pallbearers. The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
