Lela Cresta Wolfe DeFriese, 91, a life long resident of Cleveland, left this earth and joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday July 3, 2011 from a health care facility in LaGrange GA where she had resided for the past 6 years with one of her children. She was a retired seamstress that created and altered clothing for many in the Cleveland and surrounding area. She also worked at Hardwick Woolen Mills, American Uniform Company, Anna Ball Whites, and her last place of employment was JC Penny. In addition to being a talented seamstress, she was most highly honored by her family and friends for her faith in God. Lela taught Sunday School Classes, held Bible study groups, and would pray with and for anyone she knew had a need. Until the time of declining health, she was very involved in Hopewell Church of God where she was a member. She was the daughter of the late Perry Howard Wolfe and Martha Jane Phillips Wolfe. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Audie Lyle, Azilee Brock, Nellie Maples, Eula Tatum, Juanita Wolfe and four brothers Evert Wolfe, Claude Wolfe, Dennis Wolfe, and Curtis Wolfe. Lela also joins her beloved husband of 62 years C.L. DeFriese in their heavenly home. Survivors include three children Beverly Ann DeFriese Cody and her husband Hershel of Cleveland, Conrad Lynn DeFriese and wife Linda of LaGrange, GA and Kenneth Dale DeFriese and wife Juanette of Cleveland; five grandchildren, Robbie Cody and wife Shelli, Sherri Buck and husband Jerry, David DeFriese and wife Jaffnie, Kelly Owen and husband Todd and Tania Engelvin and husband Cedric; Lela also is survived by twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Millwood officiating Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
